“Louis Cyr Strong Gouda has subtle hints of toffee and grilled hazelnuts. This firm, lactose-free cheese has a milky, slightly roasted aroma. Its texture is brittle, smooth and firm, yet slightly creamy when eaten. Louis Cyr—the strongest man to have ever lived—would definitely be proud of this strong gouda!”

Tips for a championship cheese tasting

  • Prepare your cheese boards before your guests arrive!
  • Let your cheeses sit at room temperature 45 to 60 minutes prior to serving.
  • Choose cheeses in a variety of colours, textures, sizes and shapes.
  • Serve a variety of crackers and breads with soft cheeses.
  • Have guests cleanse their palates between services by setting out a selection of fresh fruit (apples, grapes, strawberries) or charcuteries that pair well with the cheeses you have chosen.

Original cheese presentation ideas!

Be creative when preparing your cheese boards—and your table settings too: use butcher’s paper or a large sheet of brown construction paper instead of a tablecloth. With a black marker, you can write the names of all the wines and cheeses directly on the butcher’s paper, guiding your guests with arrows to what pairs well with what!

Lovely labels for cherished cheeses!

When it’s time to dig in, no one wants to spend the evening memorizing cheese names! Your best bet is to identify your fromages fabuleux with cheese tags. We found some really cute tags on the blog Fromages d’ici that you can print and customize however you want! Print them here.
