When it comes to sustainability, the expectations of our employees, customers, Quebecers, the government and our partners are high. The reality of climate change is on everybody’s mind, and it is widely expected that businesses, particularly government corporations like the SAQ, should act responsibly and become actively involved in their communities.

For the coming five years, the SAQ has given itself an ambitious corporate responsibility road map. Under our Sustainable Development Action Plan 2023-2028, all parts of the company are called on to implement initiatives that support communities and address environmental and social challenges. The actions are based on four pillars.

Here we’re talking about everything that makes one wine or spirits more eco-responsible than another: a lightweight, recyclable container, organic certification, its origin (❤️ local products) and alcoholic strength. In other words, everything that allows us to offer a product selection aligned with your values and expectations.

The key commitment of our action plan is our objective of net zero GHG emissions by 2040. This will also involve managing our residual materials, including those from our construction sites. Because there is no backup planet, the SAQ, like everyone else, must actively contribute to the fight against climate change.

This pillar focuses on humans: our colleagues and fellow citizens. That is why it includes actions aimed at providing a safe work environment (occupational health and safety along with the trinity of equity, diversity and inclusion) as well as ones to boost local communities through donations, sponsorships and, our corporate cause, food assistance.

For sustainable development to be present throughout the organization, we need to further integrate it into our processes. In addition to maintaining our sales ethic, we should also buy responsibly and structure our actions.
