The SAQ is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the popular TV series La petite vie by once again lining its shelves with Château Ragoût. The wine is named after the episode Le Château Ragoût, which aired during the show’s first season. And this time around, in celebration of the show’s 25th anniversary, a white wine, baptized Clos de Thérèse will also be launched. The creator of the series, Claude Meunier, is thrilled about the SAQ’s collaboration: “I am very happy that the SAQ is associating itself with a cultural product like La petite vie.”
The Québec comedian, who is a lover of food and wine, shares his favourite dish to pair with Château Ragoût: “Red licorice, obviously. Never black. How long should you wait before opening it? Don’t worry, it’ll end up opening itself at some point…” He goes on to say that the bottle’s label will definitely remind fans of how witty and entertaining La petite vie was. “When I was writhing the label, I imagined the Paré family sitting around the table, drinking wine. I pictured it from Ti-Mé’s point of view. It definitely made me laugh!” he adds. The back of the labels have a few hilarious quotes, such as Encore meilleur debouché and Château Ragoût, voilà un vin de caves. Clos de Thérèse and Château Ragoût are available in-store and online at SAQ.COM.
From the small screen to the museum
In December 2018, Montréal’s Pointe-à-Callière Museum will be celebrating the show’s 25th anniversary with a special exhibition. The exhibition will give fans the opportunity to dive back into the Paré family’s madcap world and take a tour of the show’s original sets and props. Broadcast from 1993 to 1998, La petite vie is now considered to be one of Québec’s biggest cult TV shows. Make sure to check the exhibition out, and raise a glass of Clos de Thérèse in honour of La petite vie!
