Poutine goes international!

For those of you who are only familiar with the traditional poutine recipe of fries, brown gravy and cheese curds, it’s time to check out Poutine Week! Discover a wide variety of delicious poutines, from vegetarian to Tex-Mex, to the must-try foie gras version! Bon appetite!

Poutine Week: a great way to make February less blah. From February 1 to 7, some 500 restaurants cross-Canada will serve their exclusive poutine recipes to the public. Each weekend, every region from Quebec to Vancouver will declare a winner based on votes tallied at Lapoutineweek.com. There’s no tastier way to discover new restaurants and see what creative chefs have done to mix up Quebec’s most famous food. Last year, La bouchée double, located in Sainte-Claire, won top honours with their Double Jack poutine, featuring Jack Daniels and maple-marinated filet mignon, bacon-wrapped homemade sausages, a Jack Daniels cream sauce, all topped off with aged cheddar, fried onions, and homemade beef jerky. New this year, Poutine Week is going international! Paris, Washington, and even Haiti are ready to offer their fries-cheese-curds-and-gravy best to all aficionados!
